A
REINERS POEM
By: Jeff Roberts
Not
So Fast
Circles
Circles fast and slow,
Change that lead and feel the flow.
My
hearts a pounding as I show,
Not so fast, There's more to go.
Circles
Circles fast and slow,
One more set and I get to slow.
Around
the end and up the rail,
I stop my horse and then turn pale.
Not
so fast there's more to go,
I turn my horse to start the roll.
I
lope on out and start to breathe,
Around the end I turn her free.
Past
the cone I set her down,
Sliding to a stop as I look like a clown.
Not
so fast there's more to go,
Don't freeze that roll it will surely show.
Around
the end and up the middle,
I look at the judge as he starts to fiddle.
I
stop my horse, past the center cone,
Back up 10 feet as my stomach groans.
I
stand in the center and calm her down,
I wait for the moment to turn her around.
I
start the turn with the slightest of cues,
My head is spinning as she pounds her shoes.
I
count my turns from start to stop,
Is that 3 or 5, I'm gonna flop.
I
stand bewildered and start to begin,
To the left I go, in the flow again.
I
stop my horse and look around,
That's the most fun I've ever found.
Not
so fast ..... There's more to go.
